This piece began as an invitation from my friend Sian O' Gorman of NYX (an all female electronic drone choir) to record sax for a special collaborative track. Excited to contribute, I made recordings in the summer in my van by the coastal dunes of, Norfolk. Feeling pleased with the outcome I decided to create my own long-form/sound journey type track from the takes.

Times spent in contemplation, watching the moon hang low over the sea whilst standing atop starlit dunes were of particular inspiration for the mood of the piece. I think its about the creative journey that is life, in both its material and spiritual aspects. Looking out into the great wide open and allowing dreams and visions to distil into ideas and actions. Gradually finding meaning and purpose in the unfolding of the becoming moments and amongst the cycles of life, death and rebirth. With water from the ocean falling as rain onto the land, there is also a connection with the earth element here. A sustainer of cycles and a container for creation, it allows us to channel our dreams from the ocean of possibilities up through the soil of actualisation. Some of the samples I used are, in fact, from a conversation with my parents about their ideas for a permaculture design in their back garden, a vision that is indeed still unfolding. Some of my lovely friends also feature in the sing-along at the end. Life is a collective journey after all!
